Saint Vincent Seminary, in conjunction with the Saint Paul Center for Biblical Theology, will lead a special four-day workshop for priests, deacons and seminarians on “Reading Scripture from the Heart of the Church: The Mystery Unveiled.”To be held at Saint Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, Pa., June 4-8, 2007, the conference will feature noted authors Dr. Scott Hahn; Dr. Brant Pitre of Loyola University in New Orleans; and Dr. William Bales of Mount Saint Mary’s in Emmitsburg. Dr. Hahn teaches at Saint Vincent Seminary.
“Reading Scripture from the Heart of the Church means reading it with the liturgy,” said Dr. Hahn, who also serves as president of the Saint Paul Center. “Our workshop will emphasize the liturgical content and context of the Scriptures, with a special emphasis on the nuptial dimension of the mysteries.”
The four-day session will offer clergy a time of prayer, contemplation and study in a leisurely but stimulating environment. “It’s a chance to meditate more deeply upon Scripture,” Dr. Hahn said. “They’ll return to ministry refreshed, recharged, refilled.”
Full registration for the four-day event, which includes meals and lodging, is $495. Seminarian scholarships are available. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Registration deadline is May 25. Call 724-532-6600 for details.
