LATROBE, PENNSYLVANIA –Twenty-three candidates were recently installed in the Ministry of Acolyte at Saint Vincent Seminary. The Most Rev. Anthony G. Bosco, Bishop of Greensburg, presided over the installation, held at the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica, Latrobe. The installation was held Monday, November 9.
Installed in the Ministry of Acolyte were: Brother William D. Benthall, O.S.B., and Brother Lee R. Yoakam, O.S.B., Saint Vincent Archabbey; Brother Anthony Gary Sargent, O.S.B., St. Mary’s Abbey, Morristown, New Jersey; Terence A. Crone and Roberto A. Orellana, Archdiocese of Atlanta; Jonas D. Christal, Archdiocese of Campinas, Brazil; Gregory B. Wilson, Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina; Tien Duong and Christopher A. Roux, Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina; David Perry and James A. Reardon, Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania; William G. Berkey and Douglas E. Dorula, Diocese of Greensburg; Donald William Cramer II, Diocese of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Thomas J. The acolyte is appointed to aid the deacon and to minister to the priest. It is his duty to attend to the service of the altar and to assist the deacon and the priest in liturgical celebrations, especially the Mass. He is also permitted to distribute communion as an extraordinary minister.
